Important Disclaimer
Please read carefully before using Alcophone
1. BAC Estimates Are Not Exact
This app provides estimates only of your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). These estimates are based on scientific models (Widmark, Deurenberg-Norberg, Watson, Hodgdon-Beckett) but cannot account for all individual factors. Your actual BAC may be higher or lower than the estimate shown. Individual metabolism, recent food intake, medications, body composition, and other factors can significantly affect your actual BAC.
2. Never Drive After Drinking
NEVER use this app to determine if you are safe to drive.
Even small amounts of alcohol can impair your ability to drive safely. The legal BAC limit does NOT mean it is safe to drive at or below that level. Impairment begins at much lower BAC levels.
ALWAYS use a designated driver, rideshare service, public transportation, or other safe alternatives if you have consumed any alcohol.
3. Individual Variation
BAC calculations are population averages and may not reflect your specific metabolism. Factors affecting BAC include:
- Age, gender, and body weight
- Body composition and genetics
- Liver function and medications
- Prescription and over-the-counter drugs
- Current health condition and illnesses
- Food consumption and drinking speed
- Hydration level
- Alcohol tolerance and drinking history
- Hormonal changes and menstrual cycle
- Sleep deprivation and fatigue
Two people with identical characteristics can have different BAC levels after consuming the same amount of alcohol.
4. Not Medical or Legal Advice
This app is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for professional medical or legal advice. If you have questions about alcohol consumption, health risks, or legal implications, consult a qualified healthcare provider or attorney. This app is not intended to prevent, diagnose, or treat alcohol use disorder.
5. Limitation of Liability
By using this app, you acknowledge and agree that the developer shall not be held liable for any damages, injuries, accidents, or legal consequences resulting from your use of this app or reliance on its estimates. You assume all risks associated with alcohol consumption. This app does not guarantee accuracy and should never be used as the sole basis for decisions about driving, operating machinery, or any other activity requiring sobriety.
6. Meal Effect Correction (Premium Feature)
The Meal Effect feature estimates how food consumption may slow alcohol absorption and reduce peak BAC. This correction is based on peer-reviewed research (Jones & Jonsson 1994; Fisher et al. 2020; Büsker et al. 2023) and applies a post-hoc multiplier to the Widmark estimate.
- Population averages only: The correction reflects group-level research data. Your individual response to food may differ significantly based on meal composition, gastric emptying rate, and other physiological factors.
- Built-in safety floor: The displayed BAC will never be reduced by more than 15% from the uncorrected estimate, regardless of meal size.
- Delay, not prevention: Food slows but does not prevent alcohol absorption. Timing, meal composition, and individual biology all affect real-world outcomes.
NEVER use the Meal Effect correction as justification for driving or operating machinery.
A lower corrected estimate does not mean you are safe to drive. Even small amounts of alcohol impair judgment and reaction time.
Alcophone provides BAC estimates only. It is not a breathalyzer and cannot measure your actual blood alcohol content. Never drive after drinking, regardless of what any app says. Must be 21+ to use. © 2026 SafeMetrics4U. All rights reserved.
