Important Disclaimer

Please read carefully before using Alcophone

1. BAC Estimates Are Not Exact

This app provides estimates only of your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC). These estimates are based on scientific models (Widmark, Jackson, Norberg, Hodgdon-Beckett), with Watson’s body-water model as a reference, but cannot account for all individual factors. Your actual BAC may be higher or lower than the estimate shown. Individual metabolism, recent food intake, medications, body composition, and other factors can significantly affect your actual BAC.

2. Never Drive After Drinking

NEVER use this app to determine if you are safe to drive.

Even small amounts of alcohol can impair your ability to drive safely. The legal BAC limit does NOT mean it is safe to drive at or below that level. Impairment begins at much lower BAC levels.

ALWAYS use a designated driver, rideshare service, public transportation, or other safe alternatives if you have consumed any alcohol.

3. Individual Variation

BAC calculations are population averages and may not reflect your specific metabolism. Factors affecting BAC include:

  • Age, gender, and body weight
  • Body composition and genetics
  • Liver function and medications
  • Prescription and over-the-counter drugs
  • Current health condition and illnesses
  • Food consumption and drinking speed
  • Hydration level
  • Alcohol tolerance and drinking history
  • Hormonal changes and menstrual cycle
  • Sleep deprivation and fatigue

Two people with identical characteristics can have different BAC levels after consuming the same amount of alcohol.

This app is for informational and educational purposes only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is not a substitute for professional medical or legal advice. If you have questions about alcohol consumption, health risks, or legal implications, consult a qualified healthcare provider or attorney. This app is not intended to prevent, diagnose, or treat alcohol use disorder.

5. Limitation of Liability

By using this app, you acknowledge and agree that the developer shall not be held liable for any damages, injuries, accidents, or legal consequences resulting from your use of this app or reliance on its estimates. You assume all risks associated with alcohol consumption. This app does not guarantee accuracy and should never be used as the sole basis for decisions about driving, operating machinery, or any other activity requiring sobriety.

6. Meal Effect (Premium Feature)

The Meal Effect feature estimates how food may slow alcohol absorption and lower peak BAC.

  • Population averages only: The estimate reflects group-level research data. Your individual response to food may differ significantly based on meal composition, gastric emptying rate, and other physiological factors.
  • Meals after drinking: A meal logged after you drank changes neither the displayed BAC nor how fast the estimate falls; it only slows the absorption of drinks you have after it.
  • Delay, not prevention: Food slows but does not prevent alcohol absorption. Timing, meal composition, and individual biology all affect real-world outcomes.

NEVER use the Meal Effect as justification for driving or operating machinery.

A lower estimate does not mean you are safe to drive. Even small amounts of alcohol impair judgment and reaction time.

The legal BAC limits, zero-tolerance rules and prohibition information shown in this app reflect the laws of your selected country and region as verified on 19 September 2026 (Ireland: 7 October 2026) — the dates of this app version’s last legal-data review, country by country. The app shows the date that applies to your selected country. Laws change without notice, and an app update may not follow immediately. Before relying on any limit, verify it with the official government or road-authority source for your jurisdiction. The presence or absence of a limit in this app is not legal advice.

8. Country & Region Configuration

This app is designed for use with a single country configured before your drinking session begins. BAC calculation models, legal limits, standard drink definitions, and beverage alcohol content are all resolved based on your selected country at the time drinks are logged.

Important limitations:

  1. Changing your country or region mid-session does not retroactively update previously logged drinks. Those drinks retain the alcohol content values from the original country setting, while the BAC model switches to the new country. This mixed-data state may reduce estimate accuracy.
  2. For the most accurate results, configure your country and region in Settings BEFORE beginning a drinking session. If you change location, we recommend starting a fresh session.

9. Usage Statistics, Crash Reports & Ads

To improve the app, Alcophone sends usage statistics (which screens and features you use) and crash reports to Google (Firebase). They are linked to a random app ID — never to your name, your drinks, your BAC or your body details. Where the law requires your consent first, we ask before turning them on. You can switch both off at any time in Settings › Privacy & Legal. Ads in the free version are served by Google AdMob. Details: Privacy Policy.

Alcophone provides BAC estimates only. It is not a breathalyzer and cannot measure your actual blood alcohol content. Never drive after drinking, regardless of what any app says. Must be of legal drinking age in your country to use. © 2026 SafeMetrics4U. All rights reserved.
